A common trend seen on the runway this fall was the layering of jewelry. Over the years, we have seen all different pieces stacked: an arm of bangles, a crescent of studs up the ear – and rings. Stackable rings are making a comeback in both costume and formal jewelry. ArtCarved has lines of stackable rings. How can you successfully pull off this trend? Here are four easy ways.

Less Is More

As the old saying goes, less is more, and this can apply to the stackable ring trend. Thin bands of one metal are the safest route for beginners. Decide on gold, silver or rose gold, then place a few on each hand. You can alternate between midi rings and bands that fit the full width of your fingers; many stackable ring sets come with a variety of each.

More Is Less

If you want to make a bold statement, live by the more is less rule. Try mixing in a couple thick, bauble rings with your thin bands. As long as the accents complement one another, large rings mixed with smaller pieces can work for this trend. To start, begin with one substantially sized thumb ring to offset the daintier bands and continue to add from there.

Be Daring

When we layer our clothes, there is often a science behind the method. To keep warm, you might stack on an undershirt, sweater, winter jacket and matching scarf. With stackable rings, you don’t have to worry about your hands having an equal number of rings – or rings of the same style for that matter. Six rings on one hand and three on another is acceptable.

Experiment with Styles

Another way to be daring with stackable rings is to see how different styles can be complementary. For example, you can try matching a roped metal design with a midi band covered in colorful stones.
